When I think back to when I was first drawn to weddings, I see a clear picture in my mind from when I was 14.
I was a ballroom server at The Renaissance in Miami. I would watch event goers arrive and depart throughout the evening–getting lost in the stories behind each of them. I knew, all the way back then, I wanted to spend my life being a Wedding Planner. When anyone asks what it is that draws me to weddings, there are 5 specifics I think of. Everyone is excited to spend time together celebrating love, everyone gets a chance to dress themselves up, there is plenty of really good food, endless great music, and tons of dancing. Weddings include every good thing in life. How could you not be drawn to them?
Working for Blue Water Weddings is my “The Secret” story. The Secret is a book that essentially shares how your thoughts, in a way, navigate your life. When you put something in your mind clearly and truly, it happens. Being able to join the Blue Water team as Lead Planner and finally realize this lifelong dream is proof that that theory is true. For so long, all I thought about was being a wedding planner. I worked toward it and chased it, made up my mind that one day it would happen. And here we are. I’m so thankful.
My favorite 2022 moment as Lead Planner…
includes an entirely unplanned moment. Every time I share it or even think about it, I can’t help but cry. I was bustling about the day, prepping everyone before the big walks down the aisle, when a bride’s grandfather appeared. He’s in his nineties. The second he saw his granddaughter, and she saw him, it was as though we were all transported to decades prior. He was not seeing a bride, and she was not seeing an older man. He was seeing a little girl. She was seeing her best friend, her grandpa. I will never forget the looks on their faces. I am so thankful I get to be a part of unforgettable moments like this. Planned and unplanned, there is so much magic you don’t see behind every wedding day.
Looking into 2023, I’m excited for so many things.
My fiancé Daniel and I will celebrate 7 years together in March. We are planning a trip abroad sometime next year, with Greece and Germany at the top of our lists. Aside from that, with both of us being foodies, we can’t wait to discover new flavors together throughout the year. And of course, I look forward to continuing to serve my 2023-2024 couples. So much goodness lies ahead! Alongside my favorite cocktail, Casa Azul watermelon margarita with fresh basil from my garden, I raise my glass knowing 2023 will be a great year for all.
