They say music is the highest and most complex form of art. With or without lyrics, modern or fully classical, musical can indeed make us feel happy, sad and it can “play” with our emotions in ways other arts can barely reach out to.

Naturally, your wedding music is very important – and it should represent who you are as a couple too. How do you do that, though? How do you choose wedding music that stands for your beliefs and shows off your amazing love story? We have gathered some tips for you – so read on and find out more.

·       Find the common link. If you and your fiancé are not into the same kind of music, it may feel a bit difficult to find songs you both like and can relate to. However, it is completely doable. Sit down, discuss your favorite artists, genres and songs and see where the common link is. Settle on songs you both enjoy – and, most importantly, on songs that truly speak to both of you.

·       Don’t be afraid to break away from tradition. We know “Here Comes the Bride” is the fully traditional song to play as you walk down the aisle – but if that song doesn’t represent you, then you are more than free to settle on something else. As long as you are not having a religious wedding and the ceremony officiant forbids it, anything from Metallica to Norah Jones will do.

·       When in doubt, choose the compromise solution. Don’t want to upset your mother-in-law with a song that’s too modern for a wedding moment that’s highly traditional? See if you can find a new version of an old song – this way, you get your “youthfulness” into the moment and you satisfy your parents’ tastes as well.
