Even before you say, “Yes!”, you may have already started envisioning and planning your Big Day. Being located in the Florida Keys, mostly all weddings we see are destination weddings for both couples and guests alike. The Florida Keys is a wildly popular place for a destination wedding, and with that, it has also grown to be a top location for intimate wedding celebrations.

Whether you have opted for just the two of you, or decided on hosting dearest family and friends, intimate weddings are something very special. As wedding planners, our hearts always long to help you. And with that? We always want to be honest! So in the spirit of honesty, we wanted to start off with a word of warning: Just because you have elected to have a small celebration does not mean it will be stress free.

Uhm…yikes! Why are you raining on my parade, Blue Water Weddings? I GOT THIS!

Yes! You totally do; we believe you! But let us offer you our umbrella and protect you from what could be a stressful experience. That’s what we are here for, anyways. šŸ˜‰

There are three key things to having a stress free intimate Florida Keys wedding. Come stand under our umbrella and let’s go through them together.

1.) Dream together. Do you dream of a moment, just the two of you and an officiant, sandy toed, saying, “I do” then popping a bottle of bubbly together? Do you dream up heading to a local restaurant afterwards to enjoy some local bites? Or do you envision a full celebration–just the same as a large wedding–florals, centerpieces, catered meal, etc. alongside close family and friends? A lot of choices to make, we know. But as soon as the overall feel of your event is envisioned and agreed upon, things get easier. We promise!

2.) After you’ve established a shared dream bubble, start scoping out venues. We have assisted with intimate weddings in many venues in the Florida Keys. We recommend: Pierre’s, Casa Morada, The Moorings, Kona KaiĀ Resort, Playa Largo Resort & Spa, and The Islamorada Fish Company. The most important thing to remember in considering your venue is flexibility on your date. Most venues offer intimate weddings strictly on weekdays. So be sure to go into this with an open mind. Who says Mondays have to be mundane, anyways? Plus, electing for a weekday can save you some major moolah in venue prices, room rates, and more.

3.) Decide on your budget. This can be tricky. How to do this? Think of the number that makes you cringe if you spent over that number. There you have it. There’s your budget!

In thinking of costs, the hardest part of establishing a budget with an intimate wedding is not knowing how much items typically cost. How do you build a house if you don’t have a foundation set? As always, we are here to help. Thinking of the essentials for your Big Day, here are some quick number ranges to get you started:

-Officiant. For non-denominational weddings, this service can range from $350.00-$500.00. For a Catholic Priest or Rabbi, this service could be up to $1,600.00.

-Flowers. A bridal bouquet is $175.00 and up. A groom’s boutonniere is $35.00 and up.

-Ceremony music. Live music performances at your ceremony can be $600.0 and up.

-Photography. Wedding day photographers are typically $500.00 and up per hour.
